He's losing control over his own actions, he knows he's losing control, but he can't do anything about it. He's a victim in all this too, and maybe the reason why he betrayed in the first place is because innately he never liked killing but didn't know there was any other way out of the situation until he met the first Elizabeth. Hopefully one of Merlin's gadgets can help limit him, otherwise a Meliodas vs Sins is likely to be imminent.
