This looks like one of the more interesting set-up chapters. There isn't outright conflict yet but at least the cat is out of the bag for the most part thanks to Merlin. The other Sins and knights looks more shaken and sad because of the huge implications Merlin's words delivered. Obviously Mel is in no state to comment on it himself right now. I think he was barely just holding on to look normal but he immediately broke when he was alone with Ellie. He can only feel like "himself" around her and he fully realizes that what he did - and is likely going to do from here on out - is wrong and immoral and not like him at all. I wonder if after all these power-ups he has received in this second part of the manga, he will actually regress again in terms of strength and stop using the demon mark, at least until he has found a way to work around his personality changes. They seem to only surface when he activates his demon powers. So, if he is left with no other choice, all the burden falls on Escanor as the powerhouse. And I don't think the others will let him bear that burden alone.
