In all honesty, neither Natsu nor Gray has the upper-hand in their current battle because neither of them are their full potential. Neither Natsu nor Gray are at their full power. Natsu is still mostly Natsu, and Gray is still mostly Gray. Until both of them have been demonized (END) or fallen (the term I'm going to use for Gray when his entire body goes black), they will continue to be equals. Erza catching them in the middle of their fight was the most significant element in this chapter. I'm not even going to bother to question how she knew where they were, but what I was fascinated by was how she still had the energy and strength to quickly make her way there and catch both of their fists. If she doesn't become the next guild master, I'll raise hell.
